 Well, it's official– I got my lay-off package from Lucent on Tuesday. I've got an extension through the end of August, but I'm in the market for a new job now. I was hoping that I'd be safe through this one, even as I was expecting to be laid off in September. Rumor mill says that Lucent Westford won't be around for much longer (6-9 months at best). |

 Headed to Worcester over the weekend to check out Samurai Spirit at the Worcester Art Museum. Lots of armor (on loan from the Higgins Armory Museum) and beautiful woodblock prints. Had an excellent diner breakfast at the Corner Lunch-- Stefan's blackberry muffins rock my world.The way of the samurai is the "two-fold way of the brush and the sword." By developing self-discipline and fearlessness through Zen meditation and swordsmanship, a Japanese warrior could appreciate the ephemeral beauty of cherry blossoms as well as the tea ceremony, poetry, calligraphy and painting as vehicles of expression. This exhibition explores the samurai culture with woodblock prints depicting their heroic exploits, examples of their arms and armor, tea ware, screens and hanging scrolls reflecting the sources of strength and inspiration that nourished the Samurai Spirit. |
