So, August 15th was my last day at Lucent Westford. I would have stayed through 'til the end of the month, but the nice folks at Jeopardy called me and asked if I'd like to come out to California and be on the show. The only drawback was that the taping date was August 20th. (I was kind of hoping that I wouldn't get called until sometime in September.) It sort of threw a wrench in the works (I had to take vacation days, and I was also concerned that taping would collide with our plans for Worldcon and vacation) but I didn't want to say no. If you can't make the taping date that is offered to you, they keep you in the active file but there is no guarantee that you'll be called again.I purchased plane tickets and we packed our bags. We spent a week in L.A., taped the show, visited Jenn's parents, bought 50 pounds of used books, flew home, and briefly re-acquainted ourselves with the house. After doing laundry and repacking our suitcases, we set off for Canada.
