Jan Machulski In Santa Monica

Jan Machulski presented his play, "Niebezpieczne Zabawy" (Dangerous Play) on February 23, in Santa Monica,.

The spectacle involved a third person who, coincidentally and in need, entered a nearby house and yet shook the emotions and marriage relationship of the household. The main characters were performed by distinguished actor Jan Machulski, as jealous older husband; Agnieszka Zdunczyk, as wife; and Rafal Cieszynski, as the unwelcome visitor. At the end of the play the audience participated in dissolving the problem and discussed what went wrong in the marriage. A few humorous ideas came up from the spectators, giving a new end to the play. Tadeusz Podkanski, vice president of  Modjeska Art and Culture Club, was invited by Machulski to enter the stage and perform his idea.  Along with the main actors, Podkanski played out the new short end of the play. They were wonderful.

Jan Machulski was born in Lodz, Poland in 1928. He received a degree from the National Actor's University (PWSA) in Lodz in 1954, and then from the Theatrical National University (PWST) in Warsaw, a degree in directing. He performed more then 70 roles on stages of many theaters, including Theater Polski and the National Theater in Warsaw. He also stared in more then 40 films. We can see him in movies such as: Sublokator, Vabank, and Pogon za Adamem.  He is the author of Krzywa Plaska and Lenk Plays. Great talent, actor, director and professor -- Jan Machulski is cofounder of Reduta 61 in Lublin, the Studio Stage in Lodz, and founder of the Theater Ochota in Warsaw. He has received many awards.

Actor Rafal Cieszynski studied in PWSF in Lodz, and in the Theatrical Akademia in Warsaw. He stared in films: Ogniem and Mieczem, Klan, Inferno, To My.

Agnieszka Zdunczyk performs in Theater Zwierciadlo in Lodz. She studied theater in the private school of Professor Machulski.

It was a great pleasure to meet those actors at the party after the play in Magicopolis Theater. Poland's Consul General in Los Angeles, Krzysztof Kasprzyk, and Consul Roman Czarny said warmly welcome the actors, friends, and many guests.

Helena Modjeska Art and Culture Club in Los Angeles organized and sponsored the event for guests and the visiting artists from Poland.
