Sixtieth Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising in Los Angeles On July 31, 2004, the eve of the sixtieth anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, the Consulate General of The Republic of Poland in Los Angeles, in cooperation with the local Polonia, would like to present a very important documentary "1944 Warsaw Uprising and its American Connection."
The Warsaw Uprising (from August 1, 1944 to October 2, 1944), organized and executed by the Home Army (Armia Krajowa). It was the largest single military operation against the German Army undertaken by an underground organization during the Second World War. The Uprising lasted for two months, and when it was over, more than 200,000 people were dead, and the entire city was ruined -- blew up and later fired by the German army.
In trying to achieve its goals, the uprising was a failure. But in showing courage and the dedication of the Polish nation to freedom -- it was a remarkable success.
The presentation will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the James Bridges Theater in Los Angeles. We would like to invite many guests to the opening reception.
