North American Security Block (NASB)

The NASB covers the land mass of the American continent and a few scattered islands in the Pacific Ocean that have not been submerged with rising sea levels. The NASB is ruled by a theocracy with the President being considered God’s representative on Earth. There are tight "moral" guidelines that severely restrict individual rights and freedoms. Recently a leak of pictures of what appeared to be the ruins of an alien civilization in the Antarctic caused a significant stir amongst the population as the teachings of the Priests seem to be called into question. The disturbance was quickly put to rest however as it was proven that the pictures were nothing but a hoax created by the enemies of the NASB.

European Security Block (ESB)

The ESB covers the European continent as well as Scandinavia and Russia. The ESB still has the trappings of democracy with regular elections however the real power rests in the hands of a select few oligarchs who control the vast majority of the industry within the block. The citizens are permitted many freedoms not seen in the other blocks however any challenges to the oligarch’s power are dealt with swiftly and harshly.

Pacific Security Block (PSB)

The PSB covers Eastern and South Eastern Asia with China serving as the center of power. The PSB is ruled by the Party, a derivative of the old Chinese Communist Party that now includes members from all regions of the PSB. The PSB saw several bloody insurrections during its first couple decades as certain nations sought to leave but in every case the revolt was put down. The people of the PSB are allowed many economic freedoms but a vast PSB Army that maintains garrisons in every corner of the block keeps a tight rein on civil liberties.

African Security Block (ASB)

The ASB was the last of the blocks to be formed being only a couple decades old. The peoples were united by a common hatred of the other security blocks that were responsible for the destruction of their lands in a rabid quest for resources. The ASB leaders and the armies shroud themselves in mysticism. The citizens of the ASB attribute its creation to the return of an ancient god from an ancient city in the vast desert regions of North Africa. The other security blocks scoff at these beliefs however the ASB armies were able to drive the forces of the other blocks from the continent with vastly inferior technology.

World Political and Commerce Council (WPCC)

The WPCC was formed to replace the United Nations in the middle of the 21^st century. The ESB, PSB, and NASB formed the WPCC as a forum for which to use to resolve disputes between themselves and nations outside the blocks were permitted to send non-voting representatives only. The WPCC was given a charter and funding that permitted some level of independence from the three security blocks. This independence was provided mainly to perform tasks that the blocks couldn’t agree on one of them performing. The ASB has not been given a role on the WPCC and it does not seem interested in attaining one. The representatives from the nations that formed the ASB were withdrawn from the WPCC soon after the ASB was created.
