Are you interested in mysteries? Does exploring the past as it pertains to the historical figure of Jesus intrigue you? Are you a skeptic who tends to want scientific evidence of things you don't understand? If so, then you should read this book. "The Mystery of the Shroud of Turin" is one of the most informative and thought-provoking books I have read. I live in the same general region of John Iannone, the author of this book, and I recently had the unique opportunity to attend one of his lectures of the shroud and speak with him in person. Much of what Mr. Iannone covers in his seminars is also covered in great detail in this book. The book follows the historical journey of the Shroud of Turin (the purported burial cloth of Jesus) from its origins in the Middle East to Europe in the middle ages and, finally, to its place in modern times. The book describes in a careful, organized way the many scientific tests and examinations to which the cloth has been subjected, both in decades past and in recent times. It includes timelines, maps, and many astounding, close-up photographs of the shroud. The details are superb. The book is written in a very matter-of-fact, easy to read manner; it is definitely NOT boring! (No dried-up dissertations here!) Whether you believe or disbelieve in the veracity of the Shroud of Turin, this book poses a very fascinating look at an icon from centuries past.

I remember the morning when I received a call from Dr. Adler, telling me, in a subdued voice, of the passing of his longtime friend and colleague, Dr. John Heller. It is to this great Shroud scientist that T.W. Case dedicates his book. The main portion of the book tackles the 1988 Radiocarbon test.... Case discusses the tests performed by Russian scientists, Kouznetsov and Ivanov. The results of their tests demonstrate the probability that the Shroud is not 700 years old, but close to 2000 years old....This book is must reading.

In this volume the history and scientific background of the study of the Shroud of Turin are presented. Pollen grains were sampled from the Shroud in 1973 and 1978 and from the Sudarium of Oviedo in 1979, and are re-investigated herein. Plant images were observed on several sets of photographs as well as directly from the Shroud. An interesting assemblage of plants correlates by both geographic distribution and phenology a Middle Eastern origin for the Shroud, possibly in the Jerusalem area.

For years, scientists and religious believers have been debating the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin. Rodney Hoare spent more than 20 years researching the facts surrounding the shroud and came to the conclusion that it is indeed the cloth that once contained the body of Jesus Christ. This thorough work addresses all of the issues in question including why the carbon-dating evidence of 1988 should not be accepted, how the shroud's Middle Eastern origin can be proven, how the famed image on the shroud was created, and how the shroud traveled from Palestine to Italy. This historical detective story, in paperback for the first time, includes an update by Clare Steven on the most recent research and findings.
