Review from The 2/28/03 Backyard Buzz at Our Beerbellys in Bethlehem Pa.

They have got the "vibe." What's the "vibe," you ask? It's that musical intro without the lead singer Brian present; he's just chilling at a table close to the stage drinking some water. That's the "vibe."

The band but had an open mic for about 45 seconds while the band went through a quiet intro, then finally exploded when Brian got on stage and started to belt out the lyrics in his specific way. I've always said I love band interaction and the way they got the crowd asking, "Where's the lead singer?" was great.

Listening to Brian sing made me think of the way Hemingway wrote. He's very terse, but clear and quick. The songs, which are, for the most part, driving rock in the vein of Alien Ant Farm and Stone Temple Pilots run through verse and chorus while Brian quickly quips his lyrics with a kind of one-two punch style.

The bands style is definitely different and unlike any other band that has played at the Buzz recently. It's really hard to be quick with a review, so I'll narrow it down to a song. "Secret Weapon" pretty much exemplifies their stage presence and sound. The verse is slick, powerful, electric guitar followed buy a pounding chorus. I mentioned to my friends that watching them was like taking a couple hits from Tyson to the face. But, in a refreshing way, of course.

Keep an eye on them, powerful, soulful and purposeful rock.
