JESSICA SPEART

AUTHOR OF "GATOR AIDE"

GATOR AIDE BOOK COVER! ABOUT THE BOOK:
Rachel Potter's first major assignment for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has brought her to the infamous French Quarter in New Orleans, to deal with a dead alligator chained to a bathtub -- not far from an equally dead stripper. But when Rachel discovers that an o.d. of ingested cocaine-stuffed codoms -- and not the five bullets in the gator's head -- was the true cause of its demise, the inquisitive agent finds herself perilously caught up in both murder investigations.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Jessica Speart is an investigative journalist whose focus is on endangered species and the environment. Her work has appeared in THE NEW YORK TIMES SUNDAY MAGAZINE, NATIONAL WILDLIFE, TRAVEL & LEISURE and OMNI, among other publications. She is also a contributing editor with ANIMALS MAGAZINE, as well as a member of "Sisters in Crime".

Prior to writing, Jessica worked as an actress in New York City where she appeared off-Broadway, in soap operas and television commercials.

GATOR AIDE is the first book in a series of Rachel Porter Mysteries.

"A vivid murder mystery debut....The reader can't help but root for world-weary Rachel and her damaged friends, especially her self-deprecating transvestite landlord, as they struggle to make sense of a capricious world."
-- Publishers Weekly review.

"A great story and Rachel Porter is a wonderfully appealing character. If finding yourself waist-deep in bizarre sights and smells, crooks, and gators appeals to your adventuresome spirit, you've gotta read this book!"
-- Ken Goddard, director of a federal wildlife crime lab and author of BALEFIRE.
