Winthrop Frostbite Sailing
Club invites all IC dinghy sailors to participate in the 1998
IC Dinghy National Championship to be held at the Cottage Park
Yacht Club in Winthrop, MA.
ENTRIES:
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Entries shall be submitted on the Official Entry Form accompanied by the $65.00 entry fee ($70.00 for non-US SAILING members). Late entries will be required to pay an additional late fee of $20. Entries must be post-marked by April 1, 1998. Late entries will be accepted until 9:00am April 18, with the additional late fee.

REGISTRATION:
Registration and measurement
will be open from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Friday April 17, at Cottage Park Yacht Club.
Registration and measurement for Saturday will be from 7:00 am to 9:00 am.
MEASUREMENT:
It is the responsibility
of every competitor to make sure his or her boat, sail, and equipment
measure to the IC Technical regulations for the Inter Club Dinghy
Class, effective January, 1998, or as prescribed by the Regatta
Measurement Committee. The bow tip weight rule shall be enforced.
Sails must be stamped by your Fleet Measurer. In order to expedite
the Registration process, we are encouraging all competitors to
complete the Measurement Certificate which has been enclosed with
this Notice of Race. This certificate must be signed by an Official
Fleet Measurer. The IC Technical Committee has endorsed this
effort. Certificates will be collected and put on file at Registration.
Measurement equipment and personnel will be available on site.
Skipper and crew (in full sailing gear and with any necessary
additional weights) must weigh-in before sailing.
The Measurement Committee
reserves the right to measure any boats at random during the regatta.
The top five boats shall be measured by the Measurement Committee.
Skipper and crew may be required to weigh in after the completion
of sailing.
RULES AND SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
1. The regatta will be governed by the IRYU rules prescribed by the US Sailing Racing Rules of Sailing 1997-2000, except as amended by the Sailing Instructions and the Interclub Dinghy Technical Rules.
2. This regatta is classified as a Category A event (Appendix G3).
3. The low point scoring system shall be used (Appendix A)
4. At the discretion of the Race Committee, the fleet may be divided into 4 divisions which will sail in round-robin, depending upon the number of entries
5. The 720° turns penalty (44.2) shall be in effect.
6. Life jackets must be worn at all times
7. Sailing instructions will be given out at registration.
8. Bow numbers are required
for each yacht. Bow numbers shall match the sail number (If
two
yachts have the same "bow\sail"
numbers, the yacht whose actual hull number matches that
"bow/ sail" number
shall display that number.) The bow number should be placed within
1 foot of the bow stem,
be at least 10 inches in height, and be of contrasting color to
the
hull.

get to the Club. DO NOT raise your mast outside of the Club perimeter.

Launching and hauling
boats: CPYC has
2 hoists. Several lifting bridles will be available. We recommend
attaching shackles to your chainplates to make it easy to hook-up.
Boats can be stored on the floats.
Directions (from anywhere):
From route 90 (Mass Pike) or 95 get on
route 93 to Boston. Travel through the Sumner Tunnel, off Route
93, and head towards Logan Airport. Take the exit for Route 145
(Winthrop/Chelsea). Travel straight off the exit ramp, through
two stop signs onto Bennington Street. Travel about one mile and
take a right onto Saratoga Street (Route 145, north). Travel .8
of a mile and take a right onto Pleasant Street (still Route 145,
north). Travel .8 of a mile and take a right onto Bartlett Road.
Take a left at the T-intersection (Stop sign) onto Bartlett Parkway.
Travel to another T-intersection and take a right onto Orlando
Avenue into the Cottage Park Yacht Club (CYPC) parking lot to
drop off your boat. Park along Orlando Avenue or Bartlett Parkway
