Be warned, Downton Boston Traffic sucks, especially on a friday afternoon. Listen to Traffic Reports on AM 1030 before trying to go through downtown Boston & Sumner Tunnel especially between 4 & 7 pm.
Between 4 & 7 pm, you cannot take the first Winthrop/Chelsea exit off 1A (observe yellow
sign with blinking lights). Your next exit (1 mile on the right) will put you right on 145
which is Saratoga Street.
There was an Officer of the Law under the highway where you come off Route 1A to
go on to 145.
There are 2 Stop signs as you come off 1A and get on 145, 1 right after
the ramp and 1 in the next block where you merge with 145. The second
intersection looks like it would be a Yield but it is a Full Stop.
The cop and I had a fairly long discussion about masts and when they
need red flags hung off them. FYI, He tells me that it is required when
it hangs 4' over the end of the car. This particular cop thinks it is
considerate to always have one.....
Mine was only 3' so I was technically OK. But if you are in a hurry,
you probably don't want to take the 15 minutes or so to discuss it with
him.
