Review
Shitar's followup studio album to the immensely popular Long
Way Home fell a bit short. Delusions
of Grandeur is heavily laden with ballads, getting away
from the crunching riffs that had been their trademark. Still,
the album does have some amazing moments (though surely not the cover
of Amazing Grace). The disc kicks off with
Lost in Pennsylvania, a tongue-in-cheek arena-ready
romp that harkens back to some of Shitar's early chickanery, and perhaps
foreshadows some of their later comic offerings. One
More Time is another in a long line of great Matt Gorney
power ballads and the remake of Jenny recues
that song from the anonimity of Shitar's massive back catalogue. However,
these moments are few and far between.
