Review
In the wake of hard times for each individual band member, Shitar responds
with one of their best albums ever. Hairy
builds on the masterful production heard on Boxed:
Thunder and adds a great new batch of songs.
The album begins with a longs, erie instrumental which explodes into
California, a rocker about peace of mind and
doesn't let up. In the next song, Sky,
John writes from a new perspective--the left coast, which seems to have
done wonders for him. Mark Mistysyn contributes three songs on
the disc, including Nevermind, a country-like
sing-along eulogizing two young people who committed suicide.
Heavy stuff?? You bet. Matt is at his best in Error
of My Ways, Pieces and Sweet
Sobriety, all about the painful end of a relationship.
Have no fear Shitar loyalists, Hairy also contains levity. Slow
Down and Bitch provide great
changes of pace, both with fretboard gymnastics by Mistysyn.
