Review
Just four months after putting out two albums, Shitar is back with
a vengence on Big Long Lick. Hey, they
weren't dubbed "hardest working band in music" by Rolling
Stone for nothing. After the traditional Shitar intro, Lick kicks
off with Now, a modern rocker which finds
Matt directing his anger at someone other than his ex-girlfriend.
Great axework from Mistysyn here, especially in the second part of the
solo. In Again, Mistysyn offers his
best-written song yet. His growth as a writer can be directly
linked to his efforts to make his songs more personal, a tactic he employs
beautifully on No Choice. John is back
with a plethora of songs, ranging from the heavily-smitten Every
Way to Blow it Out
Your Amp!!-type rockers like Shell,
and eminently singable Tiajuana. Matt
also provides some experimentation on modern sounding tracks like Grown
and Waste.
