Review
Following No Dogs Allowed,
one of Shitar's founding members, keyboardist John Gorney relocated
to Los Angeles. Only a few electric concerts were played to support
the album, but the band still needed to tour. So without John,
Matt Gorney and Mark Mistysyn hit the road with thier guitars to play
small clubs and theatres. This is one such recording. Originally,
the band had hoped to appear on MTV's Unplugged, but the deal fell through
due to scheduling conflicts. Stool Samples
was the beginning of the accoustic era for Shitar and the album shows
that they are in the infancy stage. Sloppily played and poorly
recorded, the album never got a shot to really hit the mark. With
more of a burden placed on his singing, Mistysyn's lead guitar playing
suffers. One can only hope for another shot at Unplugged, with
all three Shitar members in attendence.
