Guitarist Mark Mistysyn spent several hours in Matt Gorney's studio last week putting down tracks for a future Shitar song. According to reports, the two worked on rhythm tracks to Mistysyn up-tempo rocker Gone For Good. The band, however, was unimpressed with the amount of work they accomplished during this session and expect the main recording session to be hectic once again. John,
I've got more anticipated keyboard parts than usual this time around.  I'd also like to use piano on at least one song.  I did it on one of my solo album songs and it came out great.  I you would like, I can take off the Monday following Christmas to do what we need to.  Sundays are generally bad for me with my work schedule being what it is.  However, I can make myself available until 5pm and again after midnight.
Matt

I think getting the drum and bass tracks done for you songs ahead of time would rock! However, I'd like to do the keyboards and I'm sure Mark would like to do the guitar. Now, we will be SERIOUSLY pressed for time if we try this. I haven't heard from you yet, mark? thoughts?
John

Shitar Plays Small Club in Philly
(Updated 11-21-98)

Matt Gorney and Mark Mistysyn recently performed to a capacity crowd at an invitation only show at Mistysyn's studio. Despite the absence of John Gorney and hired drummer Mark Maffei, the two entertained the crowd with acoustic versions of such Shitar favorites as Absence, Turkey and Cheese, With You, Don't Leave and Pop Song. The highpoint of the evening came when Gorney poured out an intense version of See You Around to a captivated audience. There wasn't a dry eve in the house.

The duo later said that they did the gig to tide their staunchest Philadelphia-area fans over until the next studio album as well as to stay in playing shape. Both left the possibility of similar gigs in the future wide open.
