| Triple CD on the Way
(WOMELSDORF, PA)Veteran rockers Shitar are poised to release their 41st album late this summer. The ambitious effort is a planned triple album, on which band members John Gorney, Matt Gorney, and Mark Mistysyn are already working. The trio put on a double album--Use Your Kielbasa--in 1993. They also released two albums simultaneously in both 1996 and 1997.
There have been rumors of possible collaborators on the project, including a possible contribution from former Big Mean Kitty singer Chris Caira. Famed percussionist Jasmine Gorney is also likely to participate.
"It's been almost a year since our last album," said keyboardist John Gorney. "So we've written quite a few songs since then."
Shitar's last disk, 2004's Sitdown, was an eclectic mix of tunes that spent 36 weeks in the top 200. That album contained an amazing 25 songs, but this one promises to have even more.
"We've already got 25 to 30 new tunes written," exclaimed guitarist Mark Mistysyn. "You're gonna hear some new and exciting stuff."
The collection will tentatively put forth three disks, will each band member responsible for one disk's content. The band has been utilizing three studios in remote parts of the country as they prepare for an August release date.
"This one's gonna have it all," boasts bassist Matt Gorney. "Rock, metal, jazz, punk, pop, country, grunge, salsa, blues, disco--you name it."
