2008 Racing Shooz League
~ 2nd Half ~
The Rules
- For the 2nd half, you will choose a weekly driver pick and a keeper pick. At the conclusion of each race, the points scored for your weekly pick and your keeper pick will be added together and ranked accordingly in the weekly results tally.
- The Weekly pick will change from week to week and cannot be repeated during any given half.
- The Keeper pick is the driver that you will "keep" for the entire half. It is the driver who you think will be the most consistent during the half and score the most points for you. You can choose any of the
2008 active drivers as your keeper pick.
- Pick a driver from the list provided using the drop down arrows. It will
list their car # along with their full first & last names. If a driver is
not listed and you would like to pick him, go for it, but it's up to you to
know if he's driving or not! Please make a note in the comments section
stating which driver you would like at which particular race. I have added a
link that will allow you to print a list of the current drivers.
- Each driver can only be used once per half. However, you may choose a weekly driver that is the same as your Keeper pick. For example, if you choose Kasey Kahne as your keeper, you can also pick him as your driver at the Atlanta race. If he scores 180 points for the race, you will receive 180 pts (weekly pick) + 180 pts (keeper pick) for a total of 360 pts.
- In the event the driver you picked does not attempt to qualify due to injury or death, you will receive the points for the driver who replaces him in the same car number. If the driver you originally picked lost his ride and moves to another car number, you will receive the points for that driver in his new car. If the driver you originally picked loses his ride and doesn't race at all, you will receive the points for the original car number you chose, provided it races. For example, if Jimmie Johnson is now driving the #72 car you will get those points even if someone else is driving the #48 car. The only way points will be received for the #48 car is if Jimmie Johnson doesn't drive at all. Driver takes precedence. If both the driver and car number do not race, you will receive 0 points.
- You will receive the NASCAR awarded points as stated on NASCAR.com for your driver and your keeper for each race. In addition, bonus points will be awarded in the following situations:
- If the driver you pick wins the pole, you will receive 5 additional bonus points.
- If the driver you pick wins the pole and the race, you will receive another 5 bonus points for a total of 10 extra points.
- Rookie bonus: If you pick a rookie driver, and the rookie finishes in the top 5 for that race, you will receive 25 additional bonus points. If the rookie wins the race, you will receive a total of 50 additional bonus points (or more if he wins the pole too)!
- No points will be deducted when drivers are penalized by NASCAR with point deductions!!! You will receive the official points that were awarded for the driver's finishing position.
- This year’s pool will consist of 3 parts again, 2 of which are totally optional. The main pool and the optional overall champ club (OCC) and the side pool. All money paid into the pool is given back in prize money for the stated finishing positions. The entry fees are as follows and may be paid in full or partially as stated below:
- Main Pool – This will remain the same as last year at $10 per half/$20 per year. The first half fee of $10 is due prior to February 15,
2008. The remaining $10 is due by July 10, 2008.
- Overall Champ Club (OCC) – This is $5 and must be paid prior to February 15,
2008 if you wish to join. The person with the highest combined score between the
1st and 2nd half will take the money in the OCC pot.
- Side Pool – This is $1 per week and payable however you choose. I will accept $1 per week, $5 at a time, any partial amount or whatever else is easiest for you. Please let me know how you would like to pay in the comments section. I will remind you when payments are due and if you forget a week, you can pay me the following week. You will still be in the side pool until you tell me you no longer want to be a part of it. Please see below for more Side Pool rules.
- Prizes will be determined by July 10, 2008 after all participants have entered. The top 10 finishing positions and last place will win the main pool prizes. The more people that play means the more prize money that will be available to pay!! So recruit your friends and family and let's get as many people as possible to sign up!! Please forward them the link to the website.
- All second half sheets and entry fees are due by 10:00 pm Friday,
July 10, 2008. No Exceptions!! I will send
another reminder one week prior to this date. If you fail to submit your
sheet by the specified date, you will forfeit your participation and all
money paid into the pool. If you submit more than one form via the website, I will keep the newest form as your final picks. I will send you a final copy of your picks once I receive them. I recommend printing out a copy of the form before you submit it with the print button.
- This year’s pool will be entirely web based. All updates will be posted after the conclusion of that week’s race, or as soon as I am able to update them. All points are unofficial and subject to change until listed as official according to NASCAR.com and RacingShooz.com. I will send an e-mail out after the race results are official and point you to the site. You will find all the stats for the year on the site. If you have problems accessing the site and/or wish to receive the stats via e-mail each week, please let me know so I can accommodate you.
- If for any reason you are having problems submitting your picks via the website, please contact me immediately so I can send you an alternative method for submitting your picks.
- Since the pool will be entirely web based this year, I realize that most people are concerned about having their name displayed on the internet. I have added a spot for you to enter an optional team name. If you fill out the team name, it will be the only name visible anywhere! I will be the only one that knows your real name. Your privacy is important to me!
- The Side Pool:
- If the driver you pick in the main pool (not the Keeper pick) wins the race, you will win what is in the side pool pot.
- The side pool pot is equal to the number of participants. Last year we had 30 participants, therefore, the weekly prize was $30.
- If more than one person picks the winner, the pot is divided equally among all winners.
- If no one picks the race winner, the pot will roll to the next race and will keep rolling until someone has the winning driver.
- For the last race of the year, if no one picks the winner, the pot will go to the person(s) whose driver finishes the highest out of all other
side pool participants.
- New participants are allowed to join mid-season as long as the side pool is not in the middle of rolling. Once the pot resets, new participants can join in.
- The most important rule of all…..Have a ton of fun and if you can think of anything that will improve the pool or the website, please let me know!! I have added links for you to e-mail me directly!
