A "cell" of a priest.
Priests, especially those of the Franciscan Order, were expected to take
a vow of poverty. This meant that their own homes were rather bare, and very
much like a jail cell. Priests presumably were not allowed such luxuries
as comfortable beds, rich furnishings, or expensive works of art. Such
unimportant things were reserved for the Vatican, of course
