The "Chorus":
The "Chorus" has been around in the theatre since at least the fifth century,
BC. It was originally a single character, but gradually it has evolved to
a group of people, who often represent the typical citizens' response to
the situation. In a modern musical comedy, this has evolved to mean the lesser
roles. Because they sing, the word evolved to mean people who sing as a group.
This particular "Chorus," thankfully, chooses not to sing.
