"Irony"
Irony is described as a situation where the exact opposite of what one expects
should happen, actually happens. Another example from this play will occur
much later, when a guy named Friar Laurence says he "will be brief." He then
proceeds to deliver the longest speech in the entire play, proving that he
is a windbag of astronomic proportions.
Yet another example occurred in the opening speech, when the Chorus describes
the audience as having "patient ears." I don't know about yours, but my ears
nodded off sometime during Scene Four. Irony. Opposites. Understand?
