Juliet's marriage proposal is curious, since she knows that it was technically illegal. Only a father could approve of a daughter's own marriage, since she was (legally) his property. Besides, in this case, she knows that a gentleman named Paris is pursuing her in this regard. Moreover, she also would know that she is marrying into a family which has an age-old feud with her own. However, the most shocking thing about this entire incident is the unavoidable fact that it is always, always, always, the GUY who pops the question. Always.
