"A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life":

Some scholars have maintained that this line is significant, since it suggests that these two were "fated to die." In other words, their "stars were crossed" from the beginning, and there was nothing they could do to avoid their outcome.

Others, of course, disagree. They claim that the Shakespeare is suggesting that their LOVE was "crossed," and it was not a true, mature love.

Still others note that Shakespeare juxtaposes "stars" and "eyes" throughout the play, and they claim that both of these two really needed glasses.
