Thompson Lake Maine, August 2002

Last summer we spent two weeks on Thompson Lake in Maine.  We enjoyed it so much that we did it again this year.  Not everything was the same -- we brought along our boat to use for fishing, tubing, and other fun on the water.  And we also found two new kayaks at the cabin that we could use to explore our part of the lake.  Here is the view from the screen porch over-looking the lake.

Here is the Sweet Baboom tied up a the dock.  Notice the new tube sitting on the front deck!  The following pictures show Leslie and the kids going for a joy ride while I watch helplessly from the water. (I was floating in the tube and trying to keep the camera out of the water.)

Here's the skipper back from her 3 hour cruise!  The kids found the boat to be a great diving platform.  And Ben learned that if you drop your face mask in 100 feet of water, it's unlikely that we'll get it back!

Everyone had fun being pulled in the tube.  We all gave it a try, but Ben and Samantha enjoyed it the most.  Here's Ben going too fast and then getting hung up outside the wake on a turn.  I think the only times he flipped were when he tried.

Here's me and the kids waving for help.  And the next shot is Leslie and the kids in the water.

We did some fishing.  Ben and Samantha were even fishing in a light rain one morning.  Ben caught a small Pike.

Here we are enjoying the kayaks.  Ben and Samantha were doing fine and we let them paddle around the small cove near our cabin.  The whole cove is waist deep or less, so there isn't any other boat traffic here.

Here we are heading home.  This was a rest stop in Massachussets.  No real problems with the truck, boat or trailer during the trip.  Since this was the first time I towed the boat more than a few miles, it was a relief to complete the trip without any major incidents.  I did learn a few things about proper weight distribution along the way.
