Ethics of Black Rock City
- Be Considerate of Others -- Don't take what isn't yours and don't bother people unnecessarily.
- No Spectators -- You're expected to participate in some way other than just being an audience for others, even if you're not an artist yourself.
- No Commercial Vending -- Selling anything to anyone at Burning Man is grounds for immediate expulsion. And they mean it.
- No Pictures Without Permission -- Burning Man is not a public event. Respect the privacy of others and ask before you shoot.
- Leave No Trace -- It's everyone's responsibility to protect the fragile Playa environment from damage. At Burning Man, it means you pack out everything you packed in and you don't pee on the Playa.
- Reduce Fire Impacts -- Burn only on designated platforms to avoid creating new surface scars.
- Tread Lightly -- Motorists must be careful neither to cause damage to the Playa nor to raise excessive dust or otherwise impair the enjoyment of others around them.
