JUNIOR KINGPINS
By-laws
2004-2005
The Junior Kingpins shall
consist of bowlers placed in separate divisions based on the bowler’s age
and/or average. The league will bowl on
Saturday starting on the first Saturday after Labor Day. All scheduled matches will start at 9:25
a.m.
SANCTION LEAGUE:
All
the participants in the league will be sanctioned with the Allentown area
YABA. The rules and regulations in the
YABA rulebook will govern the league unless a rule applies as stated in the
league by-laws. There is a once a year
sanction fee. The association, not the
league, determines the amount.
RETURNING
MEMBERS:
Returning
members have a permanent spot on a team until such time the member formally
quits the league or is more then three weeks in arrears in bowling fees. The
members final average from the previous season will be used as the members
entering average for the current season, and be placed on a team in a division
based on the bowler’s age and/or average. If a bowler is absent three consecutive
weeks without prior notification to an officer, he or she may be dropped from
the team and placed on a permanent sub list.
NEW MEMBERS:
New
league members will be placed on teams provided there are openings. ***In order
to be eligible for a team, the player must be able to roll the ball with one
hand. New bowlers, without a YABA
sanctioned average from the previous season will bowl using a vacancy score for
the first week. During this time, their
actual scores are to be recorded and will be used in calculating their
average. Their new average will be used
starting the second week.
ALL:
THERE WILL BE NO SMOKING OR PLAYING THE
PINBALL MACHINES WHILE LEAGUE IS IN PROGRESS.
PROFANITY, KISSING, HAND HOLDING, LAP SITTING, THROWING OF ANY OBJECT,
OR ANY TYPE OF HORSEPLAY, OR UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT, FOR ANY REASON, WILL NOT
BE TOLERATED AND MAY RESULT IN YOU BEING PLACED ON PROBATION OR THE EXPULSION
FROM THE LEAGUE.
THE
ABOVE PARAGRAPH APPLIES TO BOTH BOWLERS AND NON-BOWLERS.
FEES:
The
bowling fee shall be $8.00 per bowler per week. A bowler is required to pay dues of $3.00 for each week he or she is absent.
LATE ARRIVAL:
Any
player who arrives, and is not ready to bowl, by the completion of the third
frame shall sit out that game and take his or her average. This will also
result in the loss of perfect attendance.
The team will use the average of any player that is absent for a full
game.
HANDICAP:
The
Junior Kingpins shall use 90% of the difference between the two opposing teams
as handicap.
SUBSTITUTES:
We
don’t use substitutes. A pacer may
bowl. A pacer score counts only for his
or her own average, and the score will not be reflected in the team totals.
ROLLOFFS:
1.
The total pins plus handicap
for each half will determine the winner of that half.
2.
League Champions will be
determined by a 3 game rolloff played and scored exactly as normal league
play. NOTE: ROLLOFFS ARE HELD THE SATURDAY AFTER THE REGULAR SEASON ENDS. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS MADE UNLESS
THERE IS A CONFLICT WITH THE BOWLING CENTER OR THE JUNIOR MASTERS TOURNAMENT.
3.
Pre-bowling will not be
permitted for roll-offs. If you are
absent your league average will be used as your game score.

Tournaments

tournaments will be offered to all YABA sanctioned bowlers. When you choose to participate in a
tournament, you will be given specific instructions regarding fees, arrival
time, dress code, and behavior. Keep in
mind that at all times you will stand out as a representative of our league and
Mountainville Bowling Center. We, the
officers, stress good sportsmanship every week and expect the same whenever you
are participating in any sport.
Every year your league has a Holiday
Tournament. Divisions one and two play
“9 pin no-tap”, and division three plays “8 pin no-tap”. This year’s holiday special will be held on
December 18, 2004. Trophies are awarded
to 1st and 2nd place girl and boy in each division. Although the scores are not recorded for league play, you will be
required to bowl this day, as it is part of our contract with the bowling
center.
Finally, each year we have a family
tournament. This is one adult and one
junior bowler per entry. We always have
a great turnout and have lots of fun.
