Ride Description This inaugral Water Gap edition of the PA400K is based upon the Water Gap 300K.
Starting at the College Hill start/finish, we head up Mud Run to the first controle stop in Wind Gap and then toward Cherryville where we pick up the 300k route. We then head to Danielsville where we make our first crossing over the Applachian Trail at Little Gap. After an exhilarating descent past the Blue Mountain Ski resort, we follow the valley road which offers spectacular views of the mountain ridge off to our right as we head into Cherry Valley. Instead of going over Fox Gap like on the 300k, we'll head up to Water Gap and enter the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Riding along quiet park roads, we head to the turn-around point and lunch stop in Hainesville. After retracing our route back to Millbrook Village, we continue along the park roads all the way back to the Delaware Water Gap. We make our third crossing of the Appalachian Trail, again along the I-80 bridge pedestrian walk way (where we actually ride on the trail).
After a controle stop in Water Gap, we follow the Delaware river down through Portland and cross back into NJ at Belvidere. As daylight begins to fade, we head south to New Hope. We then work our way back to Easton along the Delaware River.
There are several steep, extended climbs. A triple or 39x27 is highly recommended.
