Ross W. Lichtenfels
(1881-1946)
Annie Penrose Lichtenfels (1884-1969)
The Lichtenfels
farm was about fifty miles east of Pittsburgh and about two miles south of
U.S. highway 22. The small farm produced dairy products, eggs, fruits, vegetables,
etc. which were sold mostly to local dealers. It is noteworthy that the
farm produced sufficient income to raise and send six children to college.
Pearl Lichtenfels Montgomery (1903 - 1954)
Graduated from Indiana (Pa) State
Teachers College with elementary school teaching certificate, from University
of Pittsburgh with degree in mathematics, and did graduate work at Columbia
University. She taught high school mathematics in and around Johnstown, Pa.
for about twenty-five years. No children.
Ruth Lichtenfels Lynn (1905-1996)
Graduated from
Theil College (qualified for teaching). Taught second grade
and later first grade in local schools for fourty-two years.
After Dean Lynn died, Ruth Lynn lived alone on the Lynn farm until 1982
when she moved to a nursing home in Altoona, Fl. where she stayed until her
death at age ninety. No children.
Ira W. Lichtenfels (1910-1980) - My Father.
Graduated from University of Pittsburgh,
at the age of nineteen,
with a degree in Electrical Engineering . While working for General
Electric Co. in St. Louis Mo. he met my mother, Vivian Becham, and then
eventually ended up working at General Electric in Erie, Pa. Vivian Becham died
in 1954. In Erie he worked for General Electric as a "before-his-time" technology
nerd who designed ideas ranging from Disney
World monorails to public transportation systems used in major US
cities. Five children - Gail, Robert, Lisa, Allyson, and William Frazier.
Gail and Robert from Vivian, Lisa and Allyson from his second
wife Thelma Christy, and William Frazier who was Thelma Christy's son when
she married Ira. Thelma Christy passed on in the late summer of 2002.F. Lee Lichtenfels (1915 - 2006)
Graduated from Penn State in Chemistry
(pre-med). Worked for Standard Oil Co (Ohio) in Toledo and Lima Ohio. Living
in Lima at present. No children. Married.
Dean H. Lichtenfels (1917 - 1994)
Graduated from University of Pittsburgh
in Chemistry. Worked for Gulf Research and Development Co. for thirty-nine
years in Hamarville, Pa., Baytown Tx., and Houston Tx. Retired to Leesburg,
Fl. Married, two children - Charlotte and David.
Gail A. Lichtenfels Fogle (1922 - 2005)
Graduated from Thiel College in Biology.
Worked for Gulf Research and Development Co. for two years as Hydrocarbon
gas analyst. Lived in Oakmont, Pa., Fox Chapel, Pa., Wilkinsburg, Pa., and
Houston Tx. Currently living in Leesburg, Fl. Married with two children -
Ronald and Wayne.
