Who
We Are
The Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills is
a congregation of approximately 320 members, located in Wellesley, Massachusetts,
approximately 12
miles west of Boston. The Society was founded in 1871 at its current location,
and provides a welcoming
home to those seeking a liberal religious community.
How to Find Us
UUSWH is located at
309 Washington Street (Route 16) in Wellesley Hills, MA, just west of
the intersection of Routes 9 and 16. Parking is available in lots to the
west and in back of the buildings, or on Washington Street itself. The
church office is located in Rice House, which is on the east side of our
building complex.
Visitors
Visitors are always welcome at any service or event of
the Society. In keeping with the traditions of our movement, we seek to
be a congregation that is open to all persons regardless of age, race,
gender, or affectional orientation. In May, 2000, the Society voted to
officialy become a Welcoming Congregation. Over
the years, we
have become a home for people who have grown away from one religious tradition
and are seeking another more relevant to their current stage in life.
Some have been parents wanting a common ground to nurture their interfaith
families, while others are people seeking to support, and be supported
by, an inclusive and accepting religious community.
Accessibility
The
Sanctuary is handicapped accessible
through the West and Courtyard entrances, and handicapped parking is available
in the parking lot. The Parish Hall and lower floor are accessible via
an elevator. An accessible restroom is available just off the Sanctuary
vestibule.
Newsletter
The society publishes a bi-weekly newsletter during the
church year, which runs September to June. Both electronic and paper versions
are available. If you are interested in subscribing, please contact the
church office.
