I have changed video-downlink again to use XCam as modulator/preamplifier. I am not sure why I am getting bad reception quality - so I decided to test original configuration first. LOS test on the ground before flight confirmed 1800 ft reception range. The flight test was done at around 8:00 PM and the video quality is better but still spoiled with dropouts and some noise - may be interference from the motor. The rotor was balanced as good as I could get and there were much less shaking of the image. During the test I flew way too high (my current record) as I was trying to avoid the trees.
