ANA TRIED TO STOP THE VOTE AND THEY FAILED!

The ANA filed suit seeking an injunction to stop tomorrow's meeting from
occurring and to replace it with a mail ballot.

Instead, the Judge ruled that tomorrow's vote (March 24th) is on. You need to
be there to cast your vote.

However, the judge will allow two and only two categories of members to vote
by a mail ballot.

That includes nurses who cannot vote because they had to work on Saturday, or
because of religious reasons.

All the votes cast at tomorrow's meeting will be counted towards the vote,
and this small group will be added to it to achieve the final tally.

Because of this decision, it is more important than ever that you show up and
cast your vote.

Dear Sandy,

Beth McGarry here from Uniontalk4nurses. I would like to extend my very best
wishes to all the Staff Nurses of Massachusetts and to all of you with the
MNA! Tomorrow is without a doubt one of the most important days in history
not only for Massachusetts nurses but for ALL nurses here in America who have
been what I would term as being under the thumb of the American Nurses Assoc.
-- sadly, at the expense of staff nurses, patients, the profession of
nursing, and the American health care system as well! We have been following
all the events in Massachusetts on Uniontalk for well over a year now and
most of us are well informed as to the issues and what is at stake. We have
been very fortunate not only to have Barry Adams on uniontalk but other
Massachusetts nurses such as Judybeth, Teana, Terri, and and so forth. I also
want to thank you for sending us Seachange Bulletins! I will most definitely
be thinking of all of you in Worcester, Mass, tomorrow and somehow I just
know that you are about to gain your independence! To think that this will
occur in the great union city of Worcester, where RNs had a strike that began
to change MOT and other dangerous working conditions for frontline nurses!
You should all feel very proud! I am SO excited and can only imagine how all
of you will be feeling around 4pm on March 24, 2001. All of us on UnionTalk
will be waiting to hear the news. Take care and again, BEST WISHES.

Sincerely,
Beth E. McGarry, RN - Florida
