Switching Layout

Home Site Map

General Information

This is a trackplan for a 6' x 1' HO scale shelf switching layout. It is a timesaver layout designed to be challenging to operate. It can require over an hour's operation to spot ten cars and remove ten others. Although the plan is for 40' freight cars in HO, it includes information to adapt it to other scales, or other length cars. There are two files at the ftp site: swlayout.gif is a gif file which includes both the plan and accompanying text in bitmapped form. Switchlayout.sea is for Mac Users. It is a self-extracting archive. Just double click on it and it will unpack a folder containing both a Claris Draw (MacDraw) version which is object oriented, and a pict version. All the versions include text explaining more about the design and operation. Please feel free to use it and adapt it, but please don't republish it, as that is a right I choose to reserve for myself. I'd welcome comments from anyone who gives it a look.
