this is more like it. after trying different color schemes (including adding a BMP of an insignia which took so long i thought my computer was hosed) i thought about a skin texture. the ship was always sort of brownish-tan, and it was alien. this is getting to where i want it to be. this was done in raydream and touched up in photoshop.
