Arnold is
one of several interesting HS draft choices by the Pirates,
the others being Preston Claiborne and Lonnie Chisenhall. Going into 2006, Arnold was
regarded as the state's top prep pitcher, but he lost stature as his velocity
dropped from the upper- to the mid-80s. He has an average curve and
change, and obviously had serious control problems as a junior. He's
considered very projectible. The Pirates probably regard him as a
draft-and-follow candidate, but he has a commitment to Washington State, so they
may have
trouble convincing him to go to a JC.
