Martin obviously is a huge guy. He fanned 75 in 45 IP
in his senior year in HS, but hasn't been dominant as a JC reliever. He
probably fits the team's new favored profile of big guys who throw hard,
but I haven't verified that yet. The Mets drafted him out of
HS but he didn't sign. That was
in 2005, so he must have sat out a year. He has
a commitment to McNeese State and has said he told the Pirates "the money
had to be way up there for me not to go to school."
