Forrest was considered the top HS pitcher in Louisiana going into 2006, but had Tommy John surgery that year.  The Marlins drafted him in the 44th round but did not sign him.  Forrest went to LSU, where he pitched well considering he was a freshman and was only a year removed from the surgery.  He left LSU after that year, stating that he thought pitching in JC ball would help him reach the majors sooner.  Presumably, he meant that it would make him eligible for the draft one year sooner.  He pitched well for Bossier Parish and now the Pirates have drafted him.  Before the injury, Forrest threw in the low 90s and, being tall and lean, he's considered "projectable."  He may go by T.J.
