Ironically, after all the controversy over the Pirates' selection of Dan Moskos over Matt Wieters in 2007, they've now selected Wieters' replacement as catcher at Georgia Tech. Haniger hit very well once he got a chance to start, leading the team in slugging average. His plate discipline obviously wasn't good. I've found references to him being a good defensive catcher with a strong arm, but I don't know how accurate they are. Considering the low round, it's not a given that he'll sign.
