Leach pitched for Northwest Mississippi CC in 2007, then
went to
Southern Mississippi. His stats are both awful and disturbingly
reminiscent of many of the college pitchers that the Pirates drafted
to no purpose in the last several years of the disastrous tenure of former
GM Dave Littlefield. Nevertheless, Baseball America ranks him, without explanation, as the 19th
best prospect in Mississippi and he was drafted
by the Royals in the 38th round in 2007, so somebody must
think he has a good arm. He signed and could head to either State College or
Bradenton.
