Saukko played the outfield his first year in junior college, but the Pirates announced him as a pitcher at the draft. This wasn't completely bizarre, because Colorado drafted him as a pitcher in 2007, following his senior year in HS, and didn't sign him. As a hitter, he's very fast and consistently makes contact by simply serving the ball into left field. As a pitcher, well . . . who knows. The Pirates signed him in late June and sent him to the GCL, where he played center in his first game, so I guess he's an outfielder until further notice.
