Wilson is a highly regarded power-hitting prospect.
Baseball America ranked him 140th among prospects for the 2008 draft and stated
that he's improved his approach at the plate and is considered to have
outstanding power potential. He runs very well, but may not be able to
stay at third. As a Scott Boras client, and with a commitment to Arizona
State, he'll be very hard to sign. The Pirates in all likelihood
selected him as a fallback in case they are unable to sign some of their early
round selections, several of whom also figure to require above-slot money.
