Giardina spent two years at the University of Central Florida and then transferred to Tampa for 2009.  The Red Sox drafted him out of high school.  At the time he threw a low-90s fastball, a curve and a good change.  He didn't pitch well in college, though, mainly due to control problems.  He does strike out a lot of hitters, but he allows a ton of baserunners.  He shouldn't be hard to sign.
