Both Baseball America and Perfect Game state that Nuncio’s fastball tops out at 91 and that he has a good curve. BA rates him the 41st best prospect in Texas, which is very good in a strong year for the state. In high school, starting in his freshman year, he went 7-0-3, 2.13; 7-1-2, 1.28; 6-3-3, 1.47; and 7-2, 3.06. BA bemoans his size and adds that it will take close to first-round money to sign him. This is consistent with newspaper stories predicting he’ll go to Texas, to which he’s committed, unless he gets a bonus approaching seven figures. Nuncio’s father has been quoted as saying he’s 98 percent sure his son will go to Texas, although that’s likely a negotiating posture. Various articles said Robbie Grossman was a lock to go to Texas, too.
