Aguilera didn't hit at all in his first pro season and, in fact, was only the third catcher on the VSL team, but he was in minor league camp anyway and made the GCL roster. Either the Pirates think fairly highly of him or he was there in an organizational role. He was relatively old when he signed. He hit surprisingly well in 2008, although he showed little power or patience. In 2009, though, he didn't hit at all in limited playing time.
