Aguilera didn't hit at all in
his first pro season and, in fact, was only the third catcher
on the VSL team, but he was in minor league camp anyway and made the GCL
roster. Either the Pirates think fairly highly of him or he was there in an organizational role. He was
relatively old when he signed. He hit surprisingly well in 2008, although he showed little power
or patience. If his defense is good enough—he threw out 10 of 28 would-be base
stealers—he'll probably fill in somewhere at the lower levels in 2009.
