Clarkson played in JC for two years before attending Oklahoma State, where he didn't become a starter until his senior year.  He's a good defensive player but obviously not a good hitter.  He whacked around the younger pitching in the GCL, but didn't hit in brief playing time late in the season at Williamsport.  He'll probably become a low-level organizational player.  He was slated to open 2007 at Hickory, but was hurt when the season started.  He eventually got into a few games in June as a backup catcher with State College, but went on the DL in July with elbow problems.  I'm not sure he'd have played much anyway, because once Andrew Walker joined the team it was all set at catcher between Walker and Nick Stillwagon.  The latter seems to have quickly surpassed some of the team's draft picks on the depth chart.  Clarkson will probably appear some place in the low minors in 2008.
