Myrow carved out a good career as a AAA slugger after the Yankees signed him out of independent ball. He really started to make progress when he started hitting for good power in 2003. He also appears to have a lot of patience at the plate. Myrow was originally a thirdbaseman, but has played mainly first since 2004. The Pirates acquired him from the White Sox for future considerations shortly after they promoted Steve Pearce to the majors and designated Craig Monroe for assignment. He played first and both OF corners, and served as DH occasionally. He did a great job at the plate. His numbers came in spite of a .690 OPS against LHPs; his OPS against RHPs was 1.063. That's consistent with his career splits, although the gap hasn't generally been that large. Myrow seems to have great strike zone judgment, as his career minor league OBP is .414, and it's even higher in AA and AAA. In spite of his age, there'd be far worse guys to have around as potential callups to serve as a LH bat off the bench. With the Pirates sorting through options like Jose Tabata, Lastings Milledge, Garrett Jones, Pearce, Jeff Clement and Brandon Moss, though, Myrow may prefer to try some other organization.
