Nunez made a lot of progress in 2006 in the DSL, especially with his BB and K numbers.  At age 22 in 2007, though, he was old for the GCL.  He had a good ERA and a decent K rate, but allowed a lot of baserunners.  He was better as a starter than as a reliever and had a reverse platoon split.  He was an extreme groundball pitcher, with a ratio of ground outs to air outs of 3.3 to one.  He also made a pair of late season appearances for State College.  The Pirates are running extremely short on LHPs at the lower levels, but Nunez opened 2008 back on the GCL roster.  He didn't appear anywhere in the system, though, for reasons unknown.  Most likely he was hurt.
