Garcia has graduated quickly to organizational backup. He runs well and can play any outfield position, but he's shown no evidence of being able to hit in the last two years. After a very strong season in his third DSL year, he made the GCL roster in 2008. Despite being a little old for the league, he struggled, hitting for a little power but not doing much else other than stealing bases very efficiently. For some reason, the Pirates moved him up to State College after the GCL season. In 2009, he was on the opening day roster for West Virginia, possibly because Austin McClune was out with an illness. He didn't hit at all as a backup, then later served as a backup at State College and didn't hit there, either. If he's still around in 2010 it'll probably be in the same role.
