The Pirates acquired Rogers in a deadline deal for Sean Casey. Rogers was going nowhere as a starter in the minors, but improved significantly when he moved to the bullpen in 2005. He's primarily a control artist, throwing a high-80s fastball and a good slider. Even after his 2005 improvement, Baseball America did not list him among the top 30 prospects in a relatively shallow Tigers' system, and at 24 he's not exactly young to be in AA. He'll be eligible for the Rule 5 draft after the 2006 season.
