The Red Sox drafted Cramer in the 45th round in 2003, but he didn't sign. The Pirates
signed him in July 2004. He was activated at the end of the season and pitched in
Bradenton's final game. He did a good job out of the bullpen for Bradenton in 2005,
but he's clearly an organizational guy. I can't say I fully understand why, in
what's basically an instructional league for teenagers, a 22-year-old NDFA would
lead your team in appearances when you have various younger pitchers who are throwing
only a handful of innings.
