Ginter was once considered a top pitching prospect, due to a fastball that reached the mid-90s and a good slider, but his status has slid downhill the last several years.  He never had a good K rate and he now appears to be primarily a control artist.  The Pirates signed him shortly before the 2006 trading deadline, possibly in anticipation of trades and subsequent callups.  He'll probably move on after the season.
