The Pirates selected Hamilton in the 21st round in 2003, but he went back to Penn State and was drafted by the Padres the following year. The Pirates acquired him as the PTBNL for Bobby Hill, which makes him the last remnant of the disastrous Aramis Ramirez trade. Hamilton had a good year in 2004, although his K rate was low. He's most likely to be an organizational pitcher. He throws a fastball around 89-91, occasionally as high as 94, and a slider and change.
